About Rosa J

Rosa J has been making art for as long as she can remember. She studied ballet and jazz since she was 6 years old and at the age of 13 she helped to choreograph jazz steps."I remember my aunt put me in charge of the 5-6 years old girls where she was the owner-teacher at the Academy of Dance,it was so easy for me to do it.I also designed the vestry drawing it on a piece of paper. The big day came and when the show started I was so excited to see all girls dressed up with my design, they danced all my choreography. For a 12 year old I was gifted with creativity, self confidence as well as leadership because I had to deal with all the girl's parents believing on a 13 year old project.

Artist Mary Jo Weidert, owner of the Wild Apple Gallery, has described Jimenez’s paintings as “very Picasso-like.” Jimenez loves to paint canvases with acrylics in bright, swirling colors and geometric shapes. Most pieces are abstract, though some include glimpses of recognizable images: a violin, or perhaps the suggestion of an eye. More recently, she’s begun to experiment with paper collage. Jimenez describes her process as “spontaneous;” each of her works begins as a simple idea, taking shape as it is created. For her, the most important thing about art is what she calls “a pleasure in your eyes.” After searching for the right words to describe the way painting relaxes her, Jimenez settles on an interesting turn of phrase, “My mind falls down when I do it.”

Jimenez has a bachelor’s degree in music and her educational background is visible in many of her paintings. Some clearly depict musical instruments, while others suggest musical forms and emotions through abstract shapes. Also she believes music and painting are connected with each other,She found out Kandinsky support her theory about that : Hearing tones and chords as he painted, the father of abstract art, Kandinsky theorized that, for example, yellow is the color of middle-C on a piano, a brassy trumpet blast; black is the color of closure and the ends of things; and that combinations and associations of colors produce vibrational frequencies akin to chords played on a piano.
